| Vamos |
On the following page you see three series of screen shots, showing different function areas of the installation program.
By the first series you get an impression of the installation program and the steps during installation.
It is possible to get informations about the actual size of partitions by the installation program "VAMOS.EXE".
At last you see online-informations regarding command-line options.
The main menu:

At the beginning of the installation:

Within the graphic (multitasking) mode of Windows 95 the installation program is limited.

Step 1 during installation: Where do you want to install Vamos?

Step 2: In case of "MBR"- or "Extended partition"-installation Vamos needs informations about where to save the bootmanager and configuration data.

Step 3: There is only the american keyboard driver available while booting. Vamos can use either this american or a german driver. The driver is used only inside the configuration menus of Vamos and is helpful to enter character strings.
If you need a different keyboard driver, please contact me: vamos@vamos.de. If you are the first one and help me to setup and test a new keyboard layout you will get a free registration of Vamos.

Step 3b: Vamos creates an undo-file during installation to ensure you to delete the bootmanager completely, if you wish to.
By the way:
I tested the program thoroughly, but cannot guarantee for anything that may happen to your computer.
The safest way is to do a backup of the harddisk as well as to have a DOS-bootdisk with the most important tools:
VAMOS.EXE plus the undo-file
FDISK or an alternate shareware-tool
SYS
FORMATIf you have, you should complete this with the Norton disk doctor (NDD.EXE) or a comparable tool.
Undoing the installation is rather complex and only works correctly, if the partition data have not been changed too much since the installation.

Step 4:
Up to this point nothing has been changed on your harddisk.
You must decide now, whether to go on or not.
If you go on, the undo-file will be created and the bootmanager will be installed.
Afterwards you can reboot and configure the bootmenu.

There are a few "goodies" within the installation program, that make sense using it even without the bootmanager. For example you can get a list of the actual partition information (main menu, position 2).

You can adjust the level of verbosity, if you are an expert ...

The installation program has additional command line options, which may be useful for some administration tasks. One very powerful option is a copy command, which allows you to duplicate / backup / restore a complete harddisk.
A list of the command line options is shown by:
VAMOS -h
